Welcome to Breathy ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use the Breathy mobile application.

By downloading and using Breathy, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when using Breathy:

• Account Information: Email address, display name, and profile photo when you create an account or sign in using Google Sign-In or email/password authentication.
• Quit Smoking Data: Your smoking quit date, daily cigarette count before quitting, and quit milestones you choose to record.
• Health & Activity Data: Breathing exercise sessions, craving logs (time, intensity, trigger), pushup challenge results, and streak information.
• Community Content: Stories, posts, comments, replies, images, and videos you share in the community feed.
• Chat Messages: Messages you send to friends and responses from the AI health coach feature.
• Event Participation: Challenge check-ins, event registrations, and leaderboard participation data.
• Feedback: Any feedback, bug reports, or support requests you submit.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use Breathy, certain data is collected automatically:

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, screen resolution, and unique device identifiers for advertising (advertising ID).
• Usage Analytics: App usage patterns, feature interaction, session duration, and screen views collected through Firebase Analytics.
• Crash Reports: Automatic crash reports and performance data collected through Firebase Crashlytics to help us improve app stability.
• Push Notification Token: A device token stored by Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications.

1.3 Camera and Media Access

Breathy requests access to your device camera and photo library only when you choose to:

• Upload or change your profile photo
• Share images or videos in community stories
• Use the pushup counter feature (camera is used for pose detection only; video is processed on-device and never uploaded)

We do not access your camera or photos without your explicit action, and we do not collect images from your gallery unless you choose to share them.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Provide Core Functionality: Authenticate your account, track your quit-smoking progress, display health timelines, and sync your data across devices.
• Community Features: Display your stories and posts, show your profile to other users, and enable friend interactions and messaging.
• AI Health Coach: Process your messages through the OpenRouter AI service to provide personalized health coaching and quit-smoking support.
• Events & Challenges: Register you for events, track challenge progress, and display leaderboard rankings.
• Notifications: Send you push notifications about milestones, achievements, friend requests, events, and motivational reminders.
• Improve Our App: Analyze usage patterns and crash reports to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
• Advertising: Display non-personalized ads through Google AdMob to support the free version of the app.
• Premium Services: Process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions through Google Play Billing.

3. Data Storage and Security

3.2 Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our servers within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information by law.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

• Firebase Security Rules to restrict unauthorized access
• Secure authentication through Firebase Auth
• Regular security reviews and updates

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Service Providers: We share data with the third-party services listed above solely to provide app functionality.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
• Safety & Security: We may disclose data to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

Breathy may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. These ads may use your device's advertising ID and other device information to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising by:

• Resetting your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID)
• Opting out of ads personalization in your Google Account settings

Premium subscribers do not see advertisements within the app.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data by deleting your account within the app.
• Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Objection: Object to the processing of your personal data for specific purposes.
• Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing that relies on your consent.

9. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by:

• Navigating to Profile > Settings > Delete Account in the app
• Or contacting us directly at the email below

Upon account deletion, your personal data, posts, messages, and uploaded media will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using Breathy, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected during international transfers.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify you through the app or by email for material changes
• Continue using the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
